The first of eight episodes of MISSING REEL, a (failed) online series that examines the world of grindhouse cinema. This episode takes a look at the depraved genre of rape/revenge films. Honestly…I hated writing this episode almost as much as I hated appearing in it.

The Monster of Blackenstyne (not to be confused with Blackenstein) by the incredible Dave Crosland!!! Yes, this is a real project. It is a one-shot comic that will also include bonus pin-ups such as this masterpiece by Dave Crosland, as well as other artists. And wait until you see the cover…which I can’t show you just yet. BIG NEWS!!! My new book, BLACK FILM: A History of Black Representation and Participation in the Movies will be released March 24, 2026 from Ten Speed Press . This is not a graphic novel, though it is filled with images chronicling the history of Black Film, as well as original illustrations by the one and only John Jennings . Some of you may not know this, but my career started with film reviews, and included more than a decade of writing about movies for various publications, including my own BadAzz MoFo.
