Insomnia Doodling – Sugar Skull Series #5

It’s been a while since I’ve worked on a sugar skull. I started this one almost a month ago, and have been slowly working on it ever since. As a rule, I only work on sugar skulls when I can’t sleep, or before I go to bed as a way of clearing out the clutter in my brain. Honestly, it is a form of creative therapy…which is all part of practicing Creative Well-Being. I never start a sugar skull with any kind of plan or design in mind, and it’s usually difficult for me to know when I’m finished with one. Most of the time, I just reach a point where it feels like it’s time to move on. I think this one is done…I think.

More Trivia about David F Walker…

I made a short film starring Ken Forew, BLACK SANTA’S REVENGE. It was twenty minutes of pure grindhouse exploitation, filled with violence, profanity, and pointless nudity. It was also some of the most fun I’ve ever had. Working with Ken was an amazing experience — he’s a great person and a phenomenal actor. A few days ago Ken called me…we hadn’t talked in years. Not only was it great catching up with him, it got me thinking about the feature length version of BLACK SANTA’S REVENGE that we always talked about making. Honestly, I thought I was done making movies, but there’s still an itch I’d like to scratch. And if Ken is down, and I can raise the money, we may have to do it — BLACK SANTA’S REVENGE, the feature film. I’ll keep you posted.

David F Walker Trivia

Here’s a bit of trivia many of you don’t know about me…before breaking into comics, I made films. This year is the 20th anniversary of my (un)romantic comedy DAMAGED GOODS. I wrote, produced, and directed DAMAGED GOODS, and ended up releasing it myself on DVD. Honestly, I think I only sold about twenty copies of the DVD. Somewhere there are boxes of these in storage, just waiting to never be watched.🤣

DAMAGED GOODS is one of several movies I made that few people have ever seen. It would be easy to call my career in film a failure…except it wasn’t a failure. Sure, I lost money on everything I made, and most of my work has gone unseen by the masses…but I made movies!!! Making movies was more important to me than making money off those movies.

Let me know if any of you are interested in buying a DVD of DAMAGED GOODS…I’ll see if I can find that box.

FEELING MESSED UP has arrived!!!

I’m excited to report that copies of FEELING MESSED UP have arrived from the printer…and they lookĀ great!!! Kickstarter rewards will start shipping as soon as the stickersĀ arrive. For a project that came to life during a crippling bout of depression, and was assembled in less than a month, this is something that makes me truly feel good about myself and what I do. Once all the Kickstarter rewards are fulfilled, physical copies and a PDF version of FEELING MESSED up will be available for purchase.
